Components for agricultural machinery - robust, efficient and lightweight

C.F. Maier-TEC develops and produces robust outer skin parts for agricultural machinery made of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP), as this material is particularly resistant to mechanical stress and is ideal for use in agriculture. We use foamed polyurethane (PUR) for the inner linings in order to meet the special requirements of agriculture.

Advantages of GRP in agricultural use

The intensive mechanical loads to which agricultural machinery is exposed in the field require particularly robust materials for the outer cladding. Glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP) offers decisive advantages here: It is resistant to rust, temperature, weathering and ageing. GRP is also characterized by its low weight, impact resistance, ease of installation and cost efficiency. Compared to sheet steel, GRP offers numerous advantages, including a significant weight reduction, corrosion resistance and easier handling. The application of a gelcoat layer, which can also be finished in two colors on request, creates high-quality and durable surfaces that do not require repainting.

Efficient manufacturing processes for optimum quality

Our SMC (Sheet Molding Compound) molded parts are a cost-effective and durable solution for exterior cladding, as they are both resistant to environmental influences and easy to manufacture. These molded parts can be easily painted at higher temperatures. For additional weight savings, we use the vacuum expansion process (VEX), which leads to a weight reduction of up to 50 % compared to sheet steel alternatives.

If smooth surfaces are also required on the inside of the components, we use the RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) process by means of vacuum injection, as it enables high precision and high-quality surfaces. This process is particularly suitable for large components that need to be produced cost-effectively. For smaller quantities, we use the manual laminate process, which gives us flexibility in the production of individual components.

Polyurethane for interior fittings

For the interior trim of agricultural machinery, such as seats, control panel trim or dashboards, we use foamed polyurethane, which is processed using the RIM process. These components are lightweight, robust and have sound-absorbing properties, which improves driving comfort for the operator in particular by reducing vibrations and noise. Our polyurethane molded parts can easily be equipped with inserts, such as metal reinforcements to improve stability or fastening elements, or back-foamed to meet specific customer requirements, such as ergonomic seat cushions or durable control panel covers. They can also be repainted if required. We offer polyurethane molded parts for small, medium and large series.
