Additive manufacturing: Large-format 3D printing at C.F. Maier-TEC

An outstanding example of this is our XXL 3D printing system, the QUEEN 1 from Q.BIG 3D. This enables the precise and economical production of large, complex plastic parts.

The process begins with the digital design of the component, which is then built up layer by layer. Printing is carried out using cost-effective plastic granulate, which offers significantly better cost-effectiveness compared to conventional filament - a unique selling point of the system in addition to the considerable size of the installation space.

Large-format production

With an installation space of 1700 × 1050 × 1050 mm, even large-volume components can be produced. The QUEEN 1 uses the innovative VFGF process (Variable Fused Granulate Fabrication), which enables an intelligent layer structure: high resolution is only used where necessary - for example on surfaces - while the inner volume is printed with faster, thicker webs. Adapted process algorithms ensure that the right amount of material is extruded in the right place at the right time. This means that even complex components with support structures and overhangs can be produced efficiently.
