Our materials

With our wide range of plastics processing methods, we are able to meet the most diverse requirements in terms of surface quality, durability and cost. We offer the right material for a wide range of requirements in terms of stability, weight and surface properties. We process GRP, PUR, SMC and thermoplastics.

Glass fiber mats for the production of components made from fiber-reinforced plastics

Glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP)

Glass fiber reinforced plastics (GRP) consist of a synthetic resin matrix reinforced with glass fibers and offer high strength and corrosion resistance with low weight. They enable flexible designs and are durable and cost-efficient. In Germany, C.F. Maier is one of the pioneers in the processing of GRP.

Polyurethan (PUR)

As a versatile plastic, polyurethane can have different properties. We process PUR compact foam, integral rigid foam and semi-rigid foam and combine the material with glass mats or glass fibers if required. This allows us to produce components with high stability and low weight for a wide range of applications, e.g. housing parts in medical technology, dashboards or interior panels for commercial vehicles, armrests or seat cushions for motorhomes. In combination with GRP, we process PUR as a sandwich construction for better insulation, e.g. for pop-up roofs.

Sheet Molding Compound (SMC)

In sheet molding compound hot presses, premixed compounds of plastic resin and fibres are processed into fibre-reinforced plastics using low-pressure pressing. In this process, inserts such as fastening elements can be inserted into the mold and thus integrated during the production of the plastic.

Thermoplastics

We process all thermoplastics with the exception of PVC. In combination with polyurethane parts, thermoplastics offer excellent surface properties with special requirements in terms of appearance and feel. This is why we primarily manufacture a wide variety of trim parts from thermoplastics. These are CNC trimmed with high precision and further processed according to customer requirements (e.g. ultrasonic welding).
