Outer skin parts

Our outer skin parts are mainly made of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP), which is manufactured using the Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) process . This technique allows ribbing to be formed on the inside and fastening elements to be integrated while maintaining the tightest dimensional tolerances. SMC components are particularly durable, offer a high degree of functional integration and can be painted at high temperatures - all at comparatively low manufacturing costs. For smaller production series, we use the wet pressing or hand laminating process.

A major advantage of GRP is its low weight, which means that the use of such parts in buses contributes to fuel savings, a higher payload and improved driving characteristics. Compared to sheet metal, GRP is also characterized by high corrosion resistance, which extends the service life of the components and reduces maintenance costs. In addition, GRP offers greater design freedom, as complex shapes are easier to realize.

Our outer skin parts include vehicle fronts, A-pillar cladding, tailgates, bumpers, wheel arches, spoilers and headlight covers.

Interior fittings

We also produce high-quality plastic elements for bus interiors. Our products include dashboards, steering column trims, gearshift gates and pre-assembled driver's workstations with integrated fridges and storage compartments. Polyurethane is particularly suitable for bus interior parts, as it can be processed into robust yet lightweight components into which cables or furniture anchors can also be easily integrated. Polyurethane components also offer a high visual and tactile quality. We manufacture PUR components using the RIM process in small, medium and large series.

Toilet cubicles

We offer large-format GRP toilet cubicles with integrated interior fittings for coaches. On request, the visible surfaces can be coated with aluminum-effect foil or fabric. Our designs are customized for each coach model and by using our proven C.F. Maier standard toilet components, we can keep production costs low.

With the new san:iq toilet cubicle, we are focusing on innovative materials. The wood-based lightweight composite panels are particularly material-efficient and environmentally friendly, yet stable and resistant to deformation. The made-to-measure design and simple assembly also make small production runs economically viable, as there are no tooling costs, which are often a cost driver for small quantities.
